Ron left school 1971 and started a motor mechanic apprenticeship with a local firm. Also attended day release classes at Aberdeen Technical College and gained City and Guilds Parts 1.23 and National Craftsman certificate. Also had training with Ford and Austin Rover. Started working as a fully qualified mechanic at Morrison Motors in 1986.
